This month’s national training camp gave athletes a chance to showcase their skills and routines for the 2024 season. It also served as a selection camp for Pacific Rim Championships (April 21-28, 2024 in Cali, Colombia) and the City of Jesolo Trophy (April 20-21, 2024 in Jesolo, Italy).

In general, athletes who are seeking an international assignment must verify their routines at selection camp. Verification routines are performed on competition-grade equipment and professionally judged to ensure that the athlete is prepared for a possible assignment. USA Gymnastics posted the full scoresheet from the national team verification routines on April 2, 2024.

Following verification, Kieryn Finnell, Jayla Hang, Madray Johnson, Simone Rose, and Trinity Thomas were selected to compete at Pacific Rim Championships in Cali, Colombia later this month. This will be Thomas’ first international elite competition since 2019, when she stepped away from elite to compete for the University of Florida. Her adjustment back from NCAA gymnastics has been largely successful thus far, winning the balance beam title at the 2024 Winter Cup earlier this year.

Sumanasekera competed at the 2022 City of Jesolo Trophy as a junior elite gymnast, where she was awarded five gold medals (team, AA, VT, BB, and FX).  Caylor and Sumanasekera finished verification in first and second place in the all-around.
